How the number is made
Methodology
Ratings are a derived replay of finished matches. The match list is the source of truth. The model is Glicko-2: each club has a rating, an RD, and a volatility.
Start and idle time
New clubs start at 1500 / RD 350 / σ 0.09. Rating freezes when a club does not play. RD creeps with empty weeks after a 14-day floor. Allsvenskan’s winter is months (Nov–Mar); a Premier League summer is weeks. The next games move a bit more after the longer break — not like a new account.
Football extras
- Home advantage: equals at home are treated as +65 stronger when judging the result — not added to the table. Neutral venues: 0.
- Goal margin: a one-goal win is the base move; two goals is 1.5×; three is 1.75×; then it grows slowly. Same G as eloratings.net.
- Competition weight T: league 1, cups 0.8, UCL-level 1.25–1.35. Friendlies are ignored.
- Penalties count as a draw. Extra time counts.
What you see
Δ on the table, movers, and club hero is the last counted week: rating now minus rating at the Monday 00:00 UTC that starts the week of the latest counted match. After a seed, that is the last week in the data, not the last published week. On a club page, Last counted results still shows the change from that match — same idea as chess, newest first. The published table lists a club after 10 counted matches and RD at or below 110.
